Expanding a 1950s house to provide additional accommodation at ground and roof level. The brief comprises modern, light-filled spaces which are inter-connected rather than open-plan. The result is a bright, colourful and bold family home.
This project comprises a roof extension and garden room extension to a Semi-detached Victorian villa in Greater London. The unique format of this house provides a long plan form with the side elevation being the ‘main’ elevation overlooking the garden.
This has opened up an opportunity to implement Permitted Development to provide a striking modern roof top extension, including the reconfiguring of a brick chimney to extend the massing of the loft extension. At ground floor, an angular roof form opens the garden room up to the landscaped gardens.
